Individualized Education Consulting
We support students and families with:
Parent Coaching
Advocating for a child’s educational needs can be challenging, especially when navigating complex school systems. Through individualized coaching, Lisa helps parents build the knowledge and confidence needed to advocate effectively for their child. She provides guidance on understanding educational terminology, preparing for school conversations, and responding to challenges that may arise during the school year. Parent coaching also focuses on practical strategies families can use at home to support their child’s learning, organization, and emotional well-being.
School Meeting Attendance
When families feel additional support would be helpful, Lisa can attend school meetings to provide guidance and ensure discussions remain clear and productive. Her role is to help families understand the information being presented, ask thoughtful questions, and keep the focus on solutions that support the student’s success.
IEP Meeting Pre-Planning
Preparation can make a significant difference in the outcome of an IEP meeting. Lisa works with families ahead of scheduled meetings to review documents, clarify goals, and identify key questions or concerns. Together, they develop a clear plan for the meeting so parents feel organized, prepared, and ready to participate as equal members of the school team.
IEP & 504 Plan Guidance
Understanding special education plans can feel overwhelming. Lisa helps families review and interpret school evaluations, progress reports, and recommendations to ensure they clearly
understand what the data means for their child. She works with parents to identify meaningful goals, appropriate accommodations, and supports that reflect the student’s learning profile. Lisa can also help families prepare for school meetings by outlining questions to ask, reviewing proposed plans, and ensuring parents feel confident participating in the decision-making process.
Interpretation of Assesment Data
Educational and psychological evaluations can include complex terminology and detailed data. Lisa helps families understand what assessment scores and reports mean in practical terms. She
explains how the results relate to classroom performance and helps identify the types of supports, accommodations, or interventions that may be appropriate based on the findings.
Letter Writting, Documentation & Organization
Clear communication and well-organized documentation are important when navigating educational systems. Lisa can assist families in drafting letters or emails to schools, documenting
concerns, and organizing educational records so important information is easy to access when needed.
Comprehensive Records Review
Educational records often contain valuable information about a student’s strengths, needs, and progress over time. Lisa carefully reviews report cards, evaluations, IEPs, progress monitoring
data, and other relevant documents to develop a thorough understanding of the student’s educational history. This review helps identify patterns, gaps in services, and opportunities for
additional supports.
Analysis of Student Needs
Every student has a unique learning profile. Lisa analyzes academic, behavioral, and social-emotional information to help families understand how their child learns best. By looking closely at evaluation results, classroom performance, and teacher feedback, she helps identify the supports and strategies that may be most beneficial for the student.
School Collaboration & Advocacy
Strong partnerships between families and schools are essential for student success. Lisa supports constructive communication between parents and school teams to help ensure that students receive the services and accommodations they need. She can help families organize concerns, clarify requests, and prepare documentation that clearly communicates a child’s needs. When
appropriate, Lisa may attend school meetings alongside families to support collaborative problem-solving and help ensure that discussions remain focused on effective strategies and
solutions for the student.
